QVCT: 5 arguments to convince your company

To believe that salary is the only thing that keeps us in a company is to be far from today's reality... Well-being and good working conditions are increasingly sought-after, and for good reason! But even if we're convinced of this, it's sometimes difficult to convince our company when we're not the decision-makers! So here's our advice and our arguments for "convincing your boss" to really consider QWL.

Why convince your boss?

To be convincing, you have to be convinced yourself! So if you're not yet aware of the many benefits of a good QWL for you, we'd like to give you a sneak preview: waking up without a knot in your stomach when you think about work, feeling recognized within the company, getting on well with your colleagues, and evolving in a healthy working environment... Sounds pretty appealing, doesn't it?

The idea that work is always something you have to endure is false: you can have a fulfilling working life, and your work can even have a positive impact on your health!

Conversely, a poor QWL (quality of life and working conditions) will have a negative impact on your mental, physical and relational health.

So having a good QWL at work will already bring you a lot on an individual level. Now, all you have to do is pass on this ambition to your company, because it has a lot to gain too! We're here to help.

The consequences of unhappiness for a company

Before you even think about the benefits of embarking on a QWC approach, you need to consider the risks of not doing so. Because this approach is not just a bonus: it's a necessity.

Overall performance impacted

A project works much better when all stakeholders are committed to its success, doesn't it? But when the company doesn't give its employees a voice, isn't grateful, and doesn't look after their well-being, they will rarely want to be involved. And you'll soon notice this in your figures.Absenteeism, turnover and even overall productivity are likely to be affected. But that's not even the worst of it!

Company survival at stake

The problem is that problems rarely stay internal. With work being one of the 3 most talked-about topics in France, working conditions won't remain an internal company secret, but will be shared with friends, then friends of friends, even on the web.

In fact, many companies have seen their reputations plummet as a result of bad buzz due to employee reviews of poor working conditions. Accounts such as Balance ta Start-up or Balance ton Agency have no trouble collecting testimonials: employees dissatisfied with their working conditions no longer hesitate to speak out. By sharing this with your company, it may already be starting to (re)consider the issue. But because there's also so much positive to be gained from launching a QWC approach, let's talk about it too!

The impact of a good QWL for a company

As we told you, providing good working conditions for your employees is far from being a bonus. It's necessary for your company. However, it's not just a threat hanging over your project, because it also has many positive things to contribute!

QVCT: the best way to enhance your employer brand!

A company that provides its employees with good working conditions is the stuff of dreams. Today, it's one of the most sought-after criteria for job applicants. So taking care of your working conditions will make your recruitment a whole lot easier! Firstly, thanks to word-of-mouth from your employees, but also because you'll be able to communicate your commitments. We've even developed a label to promote your approach: discover the Happeople label!

Céline, HR at one of our corporate customers, "1+1=3, Votre Assistante", has clearly seen the effect of their QVCT approach on their employer brand! "Now I often receive unsolicited applications, even when I'm not looking to recruit. Incidentally, her testimonial on the implementation of a QWC approach in her company is also an excellent argument for convincing your boss to get involved too!

More productive employees who want to contribute to your company

An employee who feels good at work, and who works in good conditions, will be much more inclined to get involved in the company's success.

Firstly, because they'll find meaning in their work, in the company's mission, and they'll be grateful for what you bring them. Motivation will then be boosted, and the company's overall productivity will be positively impacted!

Secondly, because he will have the right conditions to be productive. Managerial practices that leave him enough autonomy but guide him in the right way, an appropriate work organization, effective internal communication...

It's not for nothing that there's 31% more productivity among employees who feel happy at work (MIT and Harvard study, 2017).

Reduce staff turnover with QVCT

Here's a figure that will speak to you: QWL is the 1st reason for remaining loyal to your company, ahead of pay (Observatoire du Bien-être au travail, 2023)!

When you consider that the loss of an employee costs an average of between €45,000 and €100,000 in direct and indirect losses, according to Hays (severance pay, recruitment, training, equipment, etc.), you realize just how much this approach can achieve!

Providing employees with good working conditions is a way of ensuring their loyalty, and retaining the best talent for longer.

How do you convince your boss to switch to QWL?

You now have a multitude of arguments to send to your hierarchy to convince them that QWL is an essential investment! But now, how can you really talk to them about it? Here are two ways to make your needs heard!
